xFi Gateway for Kwikset lock

I am trying to add the Kwikset 914 electronic lock to my Home system/app. i keep getting an error message saying my touch screen is not connected to the app. if i try to find the device with my touch screen, it is not being seen. i use my own modem and router and do not have the xFi gateway. Is that needed to pair a lock? i had no issue pairing my garage door opener with the same set up. Help!

Hi, @user_89b2ae, we appreciate you bringing this concern here to the Xfinity Forums. I hate to hear you've had so much trouble when trying to pair your new electronic lock.

Using your own internet equipment rather than an xFi gateway should not be the cause of the error. 

Have you already attempted any troubleshooting with the touchscreen?
