XCAM without home security service

The representative informed me to delete the app but did not assist to reinstall but kept talking about needing a new camera and it was working fine until the weather storm now he want me to purchase new camera and pay a tech over a hundred dollars to come look at it.  What is going on with Xfinity and bad customer service.
