I completely understand where you are coming from with wanting to have the camera on the outside but no plug. The concern with having it going under the door is the wear and tear on the cord with opening and closing the door repeatedly. You can certainly try it, and if you have the cord wore down, it would require a purchase of a whole new camera. Please let us know if you have any other questions/concerns, we are here to help.
