Hello @PA_WOODCHUCK Thanks for your inquiry on out cameras. Outside cameras must be connected to an indoor power supply. This link provides the requirements and steps needed for installing our cameras outside. The cameras connect to the network wirelessly, but are wired for power. If there is a power or service interruption the camera feed would be lost, there is no back up available. The cost of the cameras is usually spread out over 24 months for a low monthly rate. At that time the devices would be paid for, and the monthly rate would be removed from the account.
I have used Xfintiy Home Security for my home for the past 3 years and I have been happy with it overall. The keypad is handy to have at the front door and I love the app since I can remotely control things. I have 2 cameras 1 mounted in the overhang from my home with the power cable running to an outlet in the attic that I had installed the other is right inside my back door. I have window/door sensors on my ground level entrances and a motion detector in my main living room which covers the front door, stairs, living room, dining room and part of the kitchen.
I would love to talk to you about your layout and home needs. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
