Inquiry About Smoke Detector Availability

Dear Xfinity Support,

I am currently using Xfinity Home Security and am interested in adding a smoke detector to my system. Could you please confirm if the Xfinity Home Security smoke detector is available in my area? If so, I would appreciate information on the following:

  • Availability of the smoke detector

  • Installation process and any associated fees

  • Integration with my existing Xfinity Home Security system

  • Any additional costs for monitoring services

If they aren't available in my area can you please help me with the following:

  • When they will become available

  • Any stand-alone/third-party detectors that I can purchase outside of xfinity but still integrate with my existing Xfinity Home Security system

  • Any additional costs for monitoring services

Thank you for your assistance.

I signed up for Xfinity Home Security back in 2020 and at that time they installed a monitored smoke detector. I had to unplug the touchscreen for a few months while waiting for them to replace the service cable to my house. When I plugged it back in it turns out that it can no longer pair with the smoke detector and there's no way to force it, so now I am without monitored smoke detection. They had a replacement detector ready for introduction at some point but for reasons unknown they are not offering it even to existing customers who want to replace malfunctioning detectors. They won't even replace with the old version shown on their website (shown as "Unavailable). Unbelievable is putting it mildly....I'm exploring other options.

I stopped waiting on xfinity to stock these and ended up going with an X-sense SC07-WX and subscribed to the Protect+ Premium.  It felt like the most economical choice for a right now solution.  When I look for a new home security plan, I'll look for a company that includes both.
