If I moved and left my existing home devices in place, would parts of it work locally for new owners without a xfinity home account?

My system currently includes:

  • leased xfinity controller
  • existing home security system with motion sensors and door alarms
  • xfinity window alarms
  • xfinity thermostat controllers
  • xfinity glass break alarm

We are selling our home and dont plan to have xfinity home at new home, so I was thinking I would leave a functioning system behind for new owners.

Hello, @eugeneComcast! Thank you for reaching out to our Community Forums. You ask a great question! The Xfinity Home equipment will not function without an active Xfinity Home Security account. The new home owners will be able to use existing equipment, however a technician would need to be dispatched to have everything linked to their account. Any leased Comcast equipment under your account, will need to be returned so you are not charged.

When we put in Comcast Home, the technician replaced the thermostats with Comcast ones. Would these still work? I understand that I have to leave a working A/C heating system for the purchasers of the home. I don't think I can say they need a Comcast account to operate it. So it seems I need to replace all the Comcast components.

The thermostat may be a different story than the rest of the alarm components. I'd like to double check before I say for certain that you don't need the Xfinity Home to manually control it, can you tell me what model thermostat you have?
