free security camera

Received a free security camera via a recent August Xfinity Membership Benefit.

Not sure if this is also a free service that I use to activate and use the camera or do I need to purchase an additional service.

Obviously, do not want to purchase additional services on my already larger bill.

The enclosed card only says to use the Xfinity App and add a device.  Nothing more.

Can the camera be used without additional monthly service charges?

Thank you.

user_vks94 Hello, do you still need assistance with your free security camera request?

Sounds like he’s just trying to get verification that the free camera is indeed free and he doesn’t need to pay extra to activate a monthly service.

Yes, exactly, would I incur additional charge fees if I activate this device?

Thank you.

Hello, @OldTVGuide thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums and helping to get an answer for the question @user_vks94 asked.

I found a similar post from a few months back with the same question, and the OP provided an update that as long as Xfinity Shield or another Xfinity security service isn't added to the account. There would be no additional charges: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/billing/free-xfinity-rewards-indoorsoutdoors-camera/6a8b11dda40341d3146c7fd5

Please let me know if that was helpful.

Unfortunately, the post string is not from a Xfinity Employee and uses "I heard" but ultimately both posters noted that did not take the free camera in fear that additional fees would start.

From the post:

I've heard others say it could ship because you don't need xfinity shield to use it as a live only camera. Some features of xfinity shield are free. It would still function as a dumb camera.

Is there any way I can get an official response from a Xfinity Employee?  Or maybe even a reference to a more information "GET STARTED" with a manual?

That would be helpful.

Thank you.
