Changing smoke alarm battery

Trying to change battery in Visonic MCT-427 SMA smoke alarm. Following online directions, I called the 800 number before putting it in test mode. That routed me to ai chat. Finally got to an agent who was unable to understand the directions.

i have the battery. I put it in test mode. When I start to twist the smoke alarm counter clockwise to remove the cover, it alarms. I twisted it back on instead of proceeding.

can anyone confirm that it should alarm that way and will stop as I disconnect it??

@user_zzzgck Hello and good evening. Thanks for adding to the community. We appreciate it, and are happy you thought of us to assist. We have the best tools, just like the Xfinity Assistant. It is the best resource to manage the account and service online when we are not available. It is my favorite as I can check the service health, and also reboot the wifi for dinner time. That ensures the kids come to eat, and that makes me very happy. Here is a link that I found for you to make it easy to use https://www.xfinity.com/xfinityassistant/. The directions from https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/installing-battery-mct-427-sma-smoke-detector do state that we'll hear a tamper alarm when doing this, that is normal. You can proceed and continue with the instructions. That alarm will go away once it's all done, "The tamper alert warns you when the cover of your device is open and will clear once the battery is replaced and the cover is reattached.".

I followed the directions for replacing the batteries in both of our Visonic MCT-427 SMA smoke detectors, including cleaning the detectors.  I then reinnstalled each smoke detector in its bracket and made sure the detector was secure.  About 30 seconds after reinstalling, the smoke detectors starts beeping continuously. The only way I can make it stop is to take the smoke detectors down and to pull the batteries out. As none of the suggestions are working, am I at the point where I need to have a tech come out?
