broken window sensor

I need a new window sensor assembly.  I got a low battery warning, and changed the battery, but one of the tiny plastic projections on the base broke off, and now I get a "tampered" message.  I have tried multiple batteries and even a sensor from another window, and it won't work.  I need a new one.  Why is this so hard?  I have spent at least two hours trying to penetrate your "support" system.  Please advise.
