Xfinity Target Scam

Got a call showing it was from Xfinity. It wasn’t so don’t answer. They offered a 50% discount on my Xfinity service with faster speeds saying this was a promotion with Target. They wanted payment with a Target prepaid card. Don’t do this as it is a scam. Change your password immediately as they have hacked into Xfinity accounts and had access to all my info. Issue is Xfinity has not notified customers of the hack even though it’s been going on for quite some time. Xfinity doesn’t seem to care that their customers are being scammed since no customer notices have gone out.

I recess call identified as Xfinity and offered a 50% discount with faster speeds saying if I paid upfront with a prepaid card. This is a scam!!! Thing is my Xfinity account has been hacked and I notified them. Their only response was to change my password. Xfinity knows our accounts have been hacked and that the scam is going on but won’t notify its customers so any of us can be on the hook for the money. Xfinity should do the right thing and notify all customers about this but has not taken any action to protect its clients. It is very disappointing that this company cares so little about its customers.

Hello, @user_n86s32. Thank you for taking the time to visit our Xfinity Community Forum, and for posting your feedback and concerns regarding this scam. You've come to the right place for help! Our Digital Care Team is a wonderful resource for up-to-date information, and we'll always provide any help we can offer. This is a known scam involving callers posing as Xfinity representatives, claiming a special promotion where you can pay your bill significantly cheaper if you purchase Target gift cards and provide the card numbers to them as payment, essentially stealing your money by asking you to pay with a method no legitimate company would use for bills.

Key points about this scam:
- False promotion:
The caller will often advertise a deal with a large discount on your Xfinity bill if you pay upfront with Target gift cards.
- Pressure tactic:
They may try to pressure you to act quickly, saying the offer is only available for a limited time.
- Gift card red flag:
Legitimate companies will never ask you to pay bills using gift cards, so this is a major warning sign of a scam.

What to do if you encounter this scam:
- Do not provide any gift card information:
Never give the card numbers to anyone claiming to be from Xfinity who asks for payment via Target gift cards.
- Hang up and contact Xfinity directly:
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and contact us to check if the offer is legitimate.
- Report the scam:
Inform your local authorities and the Federal Trade Commission about the scam attempt.

In addition, we also have an amazing Customer Security Assurance (CSA) team that things like this can be reported to. Here's their link with more information. We appreciate you warning others in the community, and I assure you there are several posts in existence with similar information. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We simply request that you abstain from creating multiple posts about the same issue as duplicate requests can delay our responses and help. Thank you!

Target and xfinity discount occurred to me today. Pay $750 in target credit cards to get 50% off of bill. I almost bought the Target cards but asked a friend if this was a scam. I read that several people were contacted for this deal. Did not buy credit cards and hope my account is not compromised .
