Xfinity Scam?

I received a text message from alleged Xfinity offering 50% reduction in services.

I called and got the usual sounding xfinity music and then foreign voices.  The car person took my name and last four digits of SS number.  He then informed me I was eligible for the 50% discount including all taxes and fees.  I asked even including sports and broadcast fees which have quadrupled in last four years and he replied YES fees were included. This goes against past Xfinity policies.

He then furthered stated all I had to do was pay them 10 months worth of the estimated savings up front and  agree to two year contract.

sensing a scam I thanked him and ended call.

Either these scammers are getting even more precise in their methods (same music, etc) or Xfinity has gone bonkers?

@XfinityJosephB

the callers number was [Edited: "Personal Infomation"] and when called it has exact same xfinity music and service offerings: such as tech support and program offerings.

If not real it is perfect!   If it is a real offering I do not see logic of a customer requested to prepay upfront the estimated saving of 50%, to save 50% the second year?

I have heard of many phishing schemes but this one is very very good.

Just as described above... I too received a call.  Further information: This was a Target (store) promotion.  To start the contract, would require opening a Target credit card or Pre Pay using Target giftcards.  If paid today, I would get a $100 visa gift card.  At this point I knew it was a scam and told them I didn't want to do it.  They said if not paid by tomorrow, there would be a 300 charge to my account for canceling.

I said, have a nice day and hung up.

During the conversation they gave me a confirmation code that I was to call back with and a phone number which was [Edited: "Personal Information"].

Like Elizabeth, they had the Comcast/xfinity phone tree music and such down perfect.

I will be reaching out to the CSA team as recommended above.

I just encounter the same scam! the init phone call is from [Edited: "Personal Information"]. It asked me to call [Edited: "Personal Information"] to get 50% off. And I called and got the exactly the same offer to pay 10 month upfront and get 50% off my current bill.

I got a call from an alleged representative of Xfinity for  a 24 month 50% reduction in my monthly charges.  He would take my Nov 30 payment off.  Then I would have to pay on charge for next six months in next 24 hours.  Then I wiould be billed only  50% for the remaining 18 months.   He asked me to check my Xfinity online. I did this on my lap top and saw the 192 credited and reduced to 0.    He then explained that I could only pay this amount to Xfinity with a TARGET GIFT card since Target was subsidizing this for XFINITY.   (SEEMED LIKE TWO BIG RED FLAGS)  He said that I could do this tonight and would get some extra Bonus but could do it tomorrow.  I said no thanks to tonight (Did not want to run out to Target but  more because I wanted to check this out.   He " Daniel" said it was all set.  I would just have to go to Target Tomorrow.

I then called XFINITY,  of course I got a BOT and could not help from BOT.  So Bot sent me for a TEXT with an XFINITY REP.  I tried to explain this to the REP by TEXT and the REP had to Take some time to check it out.  Then said IT WAS ALL OKAY.   But then would not address any specific issues.

SOUNDS VERY SUSPICIOUS.   ESPECIALLY TARGET GIFT card,  basically like giving cash with no recourse to challenge payment.

just received an email that declares xfinity is updating 'all mailboxes for new web access for the 2022 version'. It suggests if I dont update my email might be disabled. The link provided goes right into a credit card entry window.    The email address is [Edited: "Personal Information"] and is labelled as 'Noreply'.

Looks odd to me and i am not responding to it...  Would like an official xfinity person to comment
