Xfinity generator in unsafe location
My neighborhood is in a heavily forested area. So our electricity goes off frequently, either for PSPS or because a branch or animal hit a PG&E line. Since we are in a high fire risk area - and most people in my neighborhood have cell, phone, and internet via Xfinity - we are in danger of missing critical evacuation phone calls, texts and emails while the electricity is off and Comcast's local node is out of commission.
After numerous complaints from the community, Xfinity set up a gas generator at our local node about 3 - 4 weeks ago. The generator worked well to give us cell and internet service when the power went out a couple of days ago. But here is the problem: the gas generator is parked in a narrow street and blocking one lane of traffic.
Obviously, this is not a long-term solution. It is not safe to leave that generator there to block traffic. A much better solution would be to install a back-up battery at the node itself that could supply the node for up to 3 days.
Anyway, my neighbors who pass by that generator every day are getting upset at the lane blockage. It is possible to get the node set up with a back-up battery? If not, could you remove the generator at the corner of LTW and Ramona and bring it back briefly only during times of power outage?
Thanks for your help and advice!
Gwen.
