Xfinity gateway

Can somebody switch out your router and will it still work on your network? So I’m pretty sure somebody swapped out my router, my Xfinity Gateway

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

user_9umpnm If you connect a different router to a network and set it up to work with a modem it would work just fine if that is what you mean. A gateway however is both a router and a modem, and you would need to replace both to have a working connection. As long as that device is listed on your account with us, and active you could use it in place of our gateway as well. However, to get a device added to your account and active requires access to the account.

@user_9umpnm Yes, this is our XB8 Gateway Modem. We would absolutely set you up with this to provide our faster internet speeds.
