Xfinity equipment returned, still asked to return it.

When I went to pick up my new modem a week ago, I returned the old one in the store since it was much more convenient than mailing it. The store attendant was unable to mark my modem as returned for some reason, but they still took it and said they'd make a note of it and everything should be ok. How can I remove the prompts to return it if I already did?
