Xfinity Charged Me for 1 GIG Internet for a Year – But Gave Me a Modem That Can’t Even Handle It?!

Has anyone else dealt with this? I’ve been paying for 1 GIG internet with Xfinity since April 2024, but my speeds have always been terrible. After almost a year of talking to their awful support, finally they tell me I have modem that isn’t even capable of delivering 1 GIG speeds—it maxes out at 300 Mbps. So, for nearly a year, I’ve been paying for something that was never possible in the first place. And now, after months of frustration, they’re just telling me this? I asked why Xfinity would set up my account with a modem that can’t support my plan, and they had no real answer. I also demanded a credit or refund since I’ve been overpaying this whole time, but they denied my claim. How is this even legal? Has anyone successfully fought them on this? What are my options at this point?

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hello user_4onc53 thank you so much for taking the time to reach us here via our Xfinity Community Forums regarding your speed and billing concerns. Is the current modem a leased modem, or a personal one?
