Xfinity box fried my TV

Last night while watching my TV, all of a sudden there was a bunch of crackling noise, the screen froze for a few seconds, the screen then displayed a bunch of colored horizontal lines, and finally the screen went black.  I turned the TV off and on again.   The power LED light comes on but the screen is dead; nothing displays.  It is not a situation where it isn't receiving any input signal; the screen is dead.  Even without an input signal, it should display the TV setup/input settings/menu.  I then noticed that my cable modem was indicating that there was no service.  I went to Comcast's website and found a notice that maintenance was being done during this time.

I am as sure as possible that the maintenace caused some voltage or other damaging signal to be sent from the Xfinity box through the HDMI cable and fried my TV.  I have researched that while this is not a common occurence, it is possible.

I contacted Comcast but they refuse to acknowledge not only that their equipment damaged my TV but that it is possible for this to happen.  The likelihood of this being a cooincidence that my TV screen burned up at this exact moment is infinitesimal.

I would like to escalate this to whoever is appropriate and file a damage claim.  Has anyone else had a similar experience and received any compensation from Comcast?

I find it curious that while my post has 56 views, it has no replies, and particularly no replies from Comcast.  Comcast seems to be replying to all the other posts.  Again, they refuse to acknowledge any responsibility here.

do you have other devices attached to the TV directly? do they work when that input is selected? is it a smart TV connected to the internet? if so, do the apps work?

As I said NOTHING displays on the screen regardless of input source.  The screen is fried.

is there normally a power on LED visible on the front of the TV? sometimes it is the 'brand' logo for the TV. if so does it turn on? have you tried pressing the TV set's physical power button? tried the TV on a different known-good AC outlet to see if the TV works on another AC outlet?

If you are going to a reply to my post, please read my initial post first.  I clearly said that the power LED is on.  It is NOT a problem with power to the TV.   I will say again for the third time, the screen is DEAD.  Thanks for trying to help but I am working with Comcast on a damage claim.

speaking as a tech, the panel is dead. what leads you to believe a set top box caused it?

I've lost 2 tvs in the last month as well as 2 x1 boxes. Cancelling my Comcast and returning their dead boxes asap!
