Xfinity box fried my TV
Last night while watching my TV, all of a sudden there was a bunch of crackling noise, the screen froze for a few seconds, the screen then displayed a bunch of colored horizontal lines, and finally the screen went black. I turned the TV off and on again. The power LED light comes on but the screen is dead; nothing displays. It is not a situation where it isn't receiving any input signal; the screen is dead. Even without an input signal, it should display the TV setup/input settings/menu. I then noticed that my cable modem was indicating that there was no service. I went to Comcast's website and found a notice that maintenance was being done during this time.
I am as sure as possible that the maintenace caused some voltage or other damaging signal to be sent from the Xfinity box through the HDMI cable and fried my TV. I have researched that while this is not a common occurence, it is possible.
I contacted Comcast but they refuse to acknowledge not only that their equipment damaged my TV but that it is possible for this to happen. The likelihood of this being a cooincidence that my TV screen burned up at this exact moment is infinitesimal.
I would like to escalate this to whoever is appropriate and file a damage claim. Has anyone else had a similar experience and received any compensation from Comcast?
