XFinith emails offer to Replace your Xfinity WiFi Gateway to experience faster speeds

Emails indicate recently completed upgrades to the Xfinity network in your neighborhood.  Our AI-powered network check shows that your Xfinity WiFi Gateway is unable to deliver this new speed.  Email suggests ordering an upgraded Gateway at no extra cost to get your new speeds.

However, I have to following and Xfinity reports that my modem is optimized for my plan.

Xfinity Advanced Gateway XB8 model CGM4981COM
Download Speed Up to 1000 Mbps
    Upload Speed 100 Mbps

Is this upgrade really needed?

What Gateway model would replace my existing Gateway XB8 model CGM4981COM?

Hello user_178y9p! Thanks so much for reaching out to us for help with the recommended upgrade to the Xfinity gateway. I would love to check into the options for us to make sure you have the correct equipment. The XB8 gateway is the top option for many of our services, however there is also the XB10 which is currently eligible for customers with symmetrical upload and download speeds.

Did you receive any emails regarding upgrades that were being completed in the area? If it was for our FDX internet services it would be for a gateway upgrade to the XB10.

Can you please send us a direct message with your name and service address? I can dig into the email that was sent to help ensure the gateway exchange is needed.

To send a direct message, please click on the chat icon in the top-right corner of the screen, and select "Xfinity Support" to initiate a live chat.
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "direct messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3J0ir1l
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

I also received this email, "at no extra cost" I received a used XB6-A to replace the XB3 I already have. my plan is limited basic channels, and 400 down speeds. I have not hooked it up yet because I want to know if this "no cost to me" is the reason they are showing that coincidently my bill will increase by $30 next month! I'm already paying $160 for Limited basic channels (over the airwaves plus about 250 garbage channels that should be optional, like Latino, shopping, & music). Is it this used gateway they sent me "at no extra cost to me" costing me $30 extra/ month?
