XFi Complete

Hi,

I'm currently renting an Xfinity Gateway, and am looking to upgrade to the XFi complete so that I can have unlimited data.  When making the change online, it's unclear to me if I will be sent another Xfinity Gateway that I'll need to activate and return my old one.

If so, I was wondering if I could upgrade to XFi complete while keeping my current Xfinity Gateway modem.  I have had the modem only for a year, and setting it up was a bit of pain with having to call in the technician and troubleshooting with the home router, so I'd really like to avoid having to change the modem which is working fine right now.

Howdy user_2zjut9 👋 I hope your weekend is starting out great, and appreciate you taking time out of it to connect with us in our community!

When it comes to the xFi Complete service, we've stopped offering it to new customers as of 6/26 last month. However, if you're an existing customer on an older package not yet integrated with our Next-Gen speed tiers for internet services, you do still have the option for adding xFi Complete to get unlimited data, whereas unlimited data with a gateway rental is now included at no additional cost with our new Next-Gen plans 🙌 Signing up for xFi Complete does not mean needing updated equipment either, and while setting it up online you would be alerted during the shopping or checkout process that new equipment is required.

Thx for your help Seth! I am an existing customer and see the option to sign up for xFi complete.

So if I am understanding correctly, even if I get the alert that new equipment is required during the sign up process, I can ignore it and keep my old equipment.  Also that Xfinity will not send me another modem, if they see that I have one already with them.

Just want to avoid signing up for switching modems, and going through the hassle of setting it up again.

While you're certainly able to keep using your current modem, I'd also recommend going with any upgrade the site may be suggesting as it's probably doing so because you might not have the most updated version of the modems we offer. Do you by chance know what model of modem you have in the home?

Yes, the model name is XB8.

@user_2zjut9 With the Xb8 modem, you shouldn't need to upgrade the equipment. Are you able to add the xFi Complete online yourself? If not our team is here to help! Just send us a DM to Xfinity Support with your full name and address to get started.

To send a direct message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Message" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pen and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
A "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
