X-class products

Good day

I have some questions I chatted with a level 1 representative, and was provides some information about the x-class internet services. Which sound great and what I would be looking for.As my work requires me to from time to time upload large data files to our servers from home during overnight maintenances. But there some confusion on it. The agent said it was here in my area but I went to the site to check out the tiers and could find out if was truly ready in my area can someone clear this matter up for me. I was provide this link below. If it's not how would I be come a tester =) I would be happy to beta test new services if it's possible.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

@user_3a0347 An XB8 will work with a Xfinity Advanced Modem (XD4) to provide the speeds for xclass X-500 tier and above. This would be a professional install only.

@user_75cd0f and @user_3a0347 -

Based on this article - Comcast rolls DOCSIS 4.0 written by Jeff Baumgartner ,
the X-Class Internet service will be setup a little bit differently -

" ... For X-Class Internet's in-home setup, Comcast is initially pairing a standalone, production-ready DOCSIS 4.0 modem based on Broadcom silicon with a Wi-Fi 6E access point/router. Future DOCSIS 4.0 products are expected to include gateways with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. X-Class Internet customers receive a "professional setup" for speed tiers over 500 Mbit/s. "

Additionally - if you are reading the fine print from Xfinity, about the X-Class service:
"Xfinity-provided equipment for X-500 and above tiers is currently not compatible with Storm Ready WiFi" ,
that sounds like the XB8 Gateway device would not be used for X-500 and above tiers, and might be used for X-300 tier...

It appears this information is correct. While the Docsis 4.0 modem is not rolled out in every market, it is expected that our xB8 modem will be able to handle the speeds as well. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Great question, @user_75cd0f! The XD4 is a DOCSIS 4.0 modem we are currently testing out and looking to certify with the X-Class internet and don't have much info on at this time. But what I do see is that the XB8 will be able to handle the X-Class internet when it is available.

Will the xb8 be able to support the symmetrical x-class 2000mbps tier?

u/user_75cd0f Based on what we're seeing the XB8 modem will be involved in the home network but a Pro Install would be required, and an Advanced Modem will be needed. When this becomes available we'll know what would need to be added and as we mentioned, a Pro Install would be required, so the technician would get everything set up (when it's available).

That's a great question, @user_75cd0f! There is an image on our website at https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/xclass, but that one actually looks like our XB8. The XD4 may have a similar form factor, but I haven't seen any confirmed images of it yet.

@user_75cd0f -

if you take a look at this published by Comcast Video, you will see what Cable Modems Xfinity is using in their lab for the DOCSIS 4.0 (X-Class) service.
