I received two e-mails a couple of weeks ago telling me my gateway needed to be updated in order to get 5x-10x improvement in upload speeds and stability. I said "yes" and received the same xb8 I currently have. When I returned it to my local store, they said I had the xb8 shown on my account and didn't know why I received that notification. Last night I received a text with the same exact offer to "update" my gateway. What is wrong with your account system????

Hello @JM03062, thank you so much for reaching out to us about the upgrade message you are receiving. The XB8 modem is actually our newest modem that is compatible with the newer upload speeds. We are happy to take a look at your account and see what is triggering the upgrade notification you are receiving. 

Please send us a direct chat message with your full name and complete service address to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the chat icon located at the top right of this forums page.

Here's the detailed steps to direct message us:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send your message
