x2 availability?

I currently have the Gigabit Extra 1300 Mbps plan but I know some of my neighbors are eligible for the Gigabit x2 2100 Mbps plan. I assume there must be some distribution equipment to upgrade before I can get this tier at my house, but I'm less than half a mile away, so hopefully it's coming soon. How can I find out? The online agents were unable to give me anything - they just kept telling me about the plan I already have.

@user_kta3lb Thank you so much for reaching out for information on the speed options in your area. The Gigabit x2 speeds are the upgraded option from your Gigabit extra speed. In upgraded areas, if you are using the correct equipment, the change would be automatic for you. If the Gigx2 is not a speed option at this time, it could mean your area has not yet been upgraded to the Next Generation network, or if it has you may not be using eligible equipment. We do not have a list with specific dates on when work will be completed as many factors may impact that date, but you can get alerts for when the work is planned to start. If you check Network alerts it will help make sure you have everything set up to be notified. You will first get a notice a month or so before work is planned, and the additional notices as that time gets closer.

For the modem, if you are using one of our Xfi gateways, the speed should have updated automatically if your location was upgraded already. If you are using your own modem, check out the First link I provide and use the blue tile at the bottom of that page after you enter your address, and it says all compatible devices. The top section, Next Gen Speed Tier, will be the devices you need to check out. Also, the Gigx2 speed should show in the drop down after you enter your address if your location was upgraded already.  I would also be able to confirm if your location is upgraded and what you would need to take advantage of the speed. Let me know.

Thanks, @XfinityAmandaB! Sorry for the delay, I don't seem to be receiving e-mail notifications from the community forums anymore despite having everything enabled in my profile. I use my own modem (a NETGEAR CM2000) and I know I will need to upgrade to take advantage of the new tier which is why I'm trying to plan ahead a bit if possible. Surely someone at Comcast has a schedule for my neighborhood. It seems like the x2 build out has made it halfway up my road. If I enter my neighbor's address in the Xfinity site as if I'm moving there, I see the Gigabit x2 offering. I assume that means the CMTS equipment has been upgraded but transformers need to be upgraded to make the new band splits available all the way down the street?

Great question when the work starts for your area to upgrade you to the next generation network you'll actually get a e-mail notification on your primary and your Comcast e-mail that sate we are starting work in your area. During that time you will probably experience some service interruptions.

To know when your speeds have been updated a great way to tell is to go to this link https://www.xfinity.com/broadband-labels and putting your address it will show you our speed plans and if your area has been updated to the next generation speeds you will see that speed plan option your account via the awesome Xfinity app https://www.xfinity.com/apps  under services.
