Wrong modem listed on account, speeds same as old plan
I recently upgraded to 1000 Mbps internet service from 300 Mbps and purchased a Netgear CM700 modem (listed as supporting wired download speed up to 935 Mbps). I successfully activated the modem using the Xfinity app, but my download speeds are still around 300 Mbps and my old modem is still shown on My Device Info on the Xfinity website. I have tried restarting the modem and activating it again but the app just prompts me to chat with a support agent.

The CM700 is not compatible with Gigabit internet service. AFAIK Comcast/Xfinity has never said how they provision devices operating on speed tiers they're not approved for, but many customers who tried it have reported that they don't get full speed. There's a tendency to think the device will operate at the maximum speed it is capable of but that doesn't seem to be the case.
For a device compatible with Gigabit follow the "See all modems" link near the bottom of https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned and then under the "All compatible modems by brand" heading click the various manufacturer lists and look for devices rated for use with plan speeds above 1 GHz. Using devices on Internet speed tiers for which they are not approved tends to produce unexpected results, often speeds well below the ones you are paying for.
