Why live agent asking credit card Ssn dob information. This is completely unlawful and unethical practice
My first question - is Xfinity PCI compliance to store or ask credit card information through live agent? Even it is then it should be through secured link, live agent should not ask all sensitive info like Ssn, dob card info etc. this make me nervous after seeing this unethical practice that my sensitive info might have leaked to other. It’s really astonishing that Such a big company doing this kind of practice.
I have been associated with xifinty since 2018 and every year they launch promotion to give good deal. This year they forcing to take new mob line if you want to reduce your bill. I agreed to do that and I got below deal from agent
So $57 includes $40 for 1200 internet +FREE flex services and $17 new line mobile. So your total bill will be $57.
Agent name was Sam ( not sure real name), asked me to share Ssn and dob which I shared but when he asked credit card info I refused and asked him to share secure link to add card details but after that he didn’t responded. When I asked, can he see details and he said yes, OMG cannot believe company like xfinity is doing this with customers .
now I am afraid that my sensitive info that I shared might get misused 😞

@user_df2ff6 Hello and good morning, and thank you for reaching out here over our Xfinity Community Forums. I am so sorry to hear about this negative experience you had, and I would be more than happy to help! It is always better being safe than sorry of course. If you were signing up for a new Xfinity Mobile line, you may be asked to provide your SSN or payment information from our incredible Xfinity Support Team, which is a actually a totally separate team who just specializes in Xfinity Mobile or adding new Xfinity phone cell phone lines of service. May I ask how you reached the person you spoke with? If over the phone, what phone number did you call? With that information I can find out if that was actually a real Xfinity Mobile support specialist.
You can also reach out to our incredible Comcast Security Assurance team, who is able to launch investigations into any suspected online fraud to your Comcast or Xfinity accounts by calling 1-888-565-4329 between 8:00am - 12:00am EST, 7 days a week, or online by visiting https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse. -Christopher

@user_df2ff6 Thank you for confirming that as well, and I totally understand where you are coming from. When reaching out to us regarding your residential Xfinity services, (home internet, landline phone, cable TV, home security), we will never ask for your credit card, payment information, or SSN, however, our Xfinity Mobile cell phone service actually has it's own totally separate specialized customer service team, who has different account authentication requirements (as cell phone service has different rules), so I believe our Xfinity Mobile team does still ask for credit card or SSN due to their different authentication guidelines.
If you don't think the person you spoke with from our Xfinity Mobile team was a legitimate Xfinity Mobile associate, I would recommend either reaching out to our incredible Xfinity Mobile support team directly, who can be reached by calling or texting 888-936-4968, or reach out to our secure online chat at xfinity.com/xfinityassistant/?channel=xMobile where an Xfinity Mobile expert is available 24/7, or reach out to our Comcast Customer Security Assurance Team to see if they can investigate further https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse. Most likely, that was a legitimate Xfinity Mobile associate, however, it is better to be safe than sorry as well.
To ensure it was a real Xfinity associate, may I ask what the link was that you used to connect with the live chat in question? -Christopher
