Why is xfinity so bad that their "Live Agents" give scam call center phone numbers to their customers?

Xfinity "live  Agent" directed me to call billing to deal with a problem. It then provided me a number to a scam call center requesting my social security number in order to move forward. Do not trust this fraudulent deceitful company nor its representatives.

Hello @user_0cl861, thank you for taking the time to leave a post. Sorry to hear about this experience. I completely understand how upsetting and concerning this must be. No one should ever feel misled or put at risk while trying to get support, especially when sensitive information like a Social Security number is involved. What you described is not the experience we want for our customers, and we take situations like this very seriously. Xfinity's agents should never direct customers to unsafe or unverified phone numbers, and we would not ask for sensitive information like your SSN over an unsolicited call. If you’re willing, we’d appreciate the opportunity to gather a few more details about what happened. This will allow us to escalate the situation appropriately and help ensure your account and information are protected.

If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, we'd be more than happy to look into this for you.

How to send us a direct message:

  1. Click "Sign In" if necessary.
  2. Click the "Direct Messaging" icon.
  3. Click the "Start new conversation" (pencil and paper) icon.
  4. In the "To:" line, type "Xfinity Support."
  5. As you type, a drop-down list will appear. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
  6. An "Xfinity Support" graphic will replace the "To:" line.
  7. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window.
  8. Press Enter to send it.
