I can't follow the instructions, there is no place to change the user id

Hello @user_9vocgp Thanks for bringing your concerns to our attention for your email account. We can help you with changing your username.  Have you had the opportunity to confirm you're logged in with your primary username as you should have more options to change the username. Can you follow the steps in this link to locate your primary username xfinity.com/getstarted.
