Why can't Comcast ship 4K boxes?

The website for 4K says I can order a 4K box right from my TV. I tried this, using the voice remote on my old X1 box, saying "4K", but it does nothing other than show me some 4K info, a list of shows, and how to display my video settings. The old box is clearly not 4K capable.


I chatted with an agent who informed me that 4K boxes are only available in stores and cannot be shipped like Comcast used to do. Given the current COVID situation, this is absurd. I am in my 70's and do not want to go into stores.


If I go to a store, can I be assured they will have a 4K box available, and will they do curbside pickup? I cannot find any telephone contact info listed for individual stores, so apparently, Comcast does not want customers calling individual stores.


Please advise.

Hello, u/wtnh, I'm sorry about the poor experience trying to upgrade your cable equipment. Inventory at local stores can vary so the best thing to do would be to ship one out.
