Why are there so many outages?!

I work from home and that is my livelihood. I am required to be at work at specific times taking calls per buisness requirements and the needs of my company. Yet, Xfinity keeps having outages in my area. It's costing me money when I can't go to work. There is never a reason for the outage and only an automated bot that does not have any information. The bot tells me that a rep won't be able to help me, which is sad given that someone should know why the outage occured in the first place. I would imagine in this world with lots of people working from home that Xfinity must understand how critical loss of internet is. If there are companies messing with your lines or other factors there needs to be some type of legislative fine or repercussion for this. We are all suffering when we lose our livelihood and other reasons for having internet. Why isn't this a big enough deal for it to stop happening ALL the time?!

Hello @user_bb371b. Thank you for taking the time to reach out and being part of the Xfinity family. That's a GREAT question. Service interruptions are never what we want to happen or for customers to experience. The truth is, it's bad for everyone. It takes an incredible amount of manpower to repair nodes (boxes that supplies services to an area) and more importantly it takes out an entire area. I've seen causes be something as simple as a squirrel chewing on a line, to a lighting striking a node, a car crashing into a cable pole that downs a line, to lines that just go bad due to wear and tear. We do schedule routine maintenance to check on wear and tear issues regularly so when/if that is a root cause it's pretty rare.

@XfinityAntoine perhaps I had the misconception when I switched to Xfinity. Interruptions in service was the reason I switched, I was tired of intermittent connectivity issues with CenturyLink. But multiple outages in a short period of time is super hard and maybe worse because the service goes out for long periods of time each time it happens. I guess I should have done more research but I honestly thought this would be a more efficient solution for my business needs. Thanks for the response. Have a good one.

No problem. Glad I could shed some light on to why these things happen. Hopefully you don't experience any more interruptions in the future.
