When will I get my cablecards?

Hi, When I setup my new installation I requested 2 cablecards. When the technician arrived and installed the new service he had no idea about the cablecards, although he said it was noted on the service order. He then informed me that I could have them mailed to me or have a tech come out at a later date. I figured it would be quicker to just have them mailed to me.

I've been getting updates and emails on other issue, cable burial order as well as billing. However I have no record that the cable cards were ordered or when they will arrive. Is it possible to verify when my cards will be mailed?

user_03ggvl Thank you for reaching out for help with obtaining a cable card. The shipping process is managed by our Cable Card team. I suggest contacting them directly by calling 877-405-2298 to confirm if a cable card has been shipped for you, or to request that one be shipped to you

Aware. Unfortunately the push for "cloud everything" means that home based DVRs are endangered as well. I have a strong preference for maintaining large amounts of content ON PREM, so that I can watch regardless of whether internet is up or having issues. I have yet to find a service that allows you to record all of the new IP only based content. I do not like cloud based DVR where the content I like to record, save, and watch requires me to pay another monthly service charge. I can record thousands of hours of content locally and watch whenever I want, without internet access or payment for monthly storage.

Cloud DVR leaves customers at the mercy of internet state and bandwidth, and requires even more fees on top of crazy cable bills. Once everything moves to IPTV, I'll be forced drop TV altogether and move to select streaming services. I've been doing the math there and will continue to evaluate. I already pay so many "extra fees" for sports, local channels and other things that I currently do not even use. But they are required as part of the plan.

The cable companies are realizing huge cost saving from phasing out conventional cable and shifting to IP... but  unlikely they'll pass the savings along to customers.

IF you're aware of other ways to record to a local DVR without using a cablecard feel free to respond back. LOL
