When Does Service Plan Speed Upgrade Update?
Hello,
A few days ago I updated from 1g to 2g, with the `Up to 300 mbps upload`. I have gone through 2 iterations of the assistant rebooting my modem, as well as activating it. My upload is still capped at 40 Mbps. What does Xfinity need from me to remove that hard upload cap? The details of my Xfinity Supported modem are below. From my modem I have a 3' CAT6 plugged directly into a router, where there are no constraints on Up or Down within my network. Only my download speeds vary from device to device, especially when using Ethernet. Download speed is not the issue. I changed plans strictly to benefit from increased upload.
MB8611, DOCSIS 3.1, Up to 2.33 Gbps

Hey there, jheck90! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums! I am very sorry to hear about the experience with the upload speeds not reflecting the higher speeds. Thank you so much for sharing the details of which you have completed for the troubleshooting. We can take a look into the account with you and ensure this is resolved as quickly as possible. Can you please send us a DM to get started?
Please send us a DM with your full name and address to Xfinity Support.

Realize that although Comcast calls some devices "Compatible" and some "Recommended", for all but a few devices those designations only mean "compatible/recommended for use with their Internet service", and not necessarily approved for the higher upload speeds introduced in 2023.
The MB8611 is not compatible with those speeds. Only a few retail devices are. See the "Next Gen" list at the top of the "All Compatible Devices" PDF linked near the bottom of https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices (at the moment that link points to https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2025.03.25 Full List of Compatible Devices.pdf, but this changes from time to time).
For faster upload you need one of Comcast's newer rental gateways (XB6, XB7, XB8) or one of the few retail devices shown in the "Next Gen Speed Tier" group at the top of the "All Compatible Devices" PDF:
Comcast/Xfinity could make all of this much simpler and clearer, but they have chosen not to do so.
For additional requirements for faster upload see https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/customer-service/upload-speeds/677b01a7121aae71d76926bf?commentId=677b05b23423b47b4071a8d0&replyId=677bd66e7699a97c89069e62

Hey Bruce,
Appreciate it. I went ahead and purchased a CM3000. I set it up, got it added and such and we’re back online. However, my up and down show zero improvement, and I’m assuming my account is still capped at the previous values - 40 mbps upload.
a tech is scheduled to show tomorrow, as initially I wasn’t able to add the device so that was their solution.
