When can we expect the 'mid-split' upgrade in Southern Arizona?

Hello, We recently had a maintenance related Comcast outage in our area (Tucson Az, 85718). Curious, I checked my modem connection stats and noticed that the downstream channel frequency range was extended on both the upper and lower ends. However, the upstream channel frequency range was still at 5 - 45 MHz which is considered the low-split or sub-split frequency range.

Does Comcast know when they are planning to rollout the mid-split phase of DOCSIS 3.1 in my area?

Thanks,

Darren

Thank you @azdeltawye I don't have a precise timeline, once construction is done in your area, you will be notified of the upgrade.

Thanks for the quick response!

I stumbled across this article published on 4/9/24 that indicated Tucson Arizona was already an "Enhanced speed market" and that the modem I am using (Motorola MB8600) is not on the 'approved list' which is compatible with the increased upload speeds. Should I go ahead and get one of the approved modems? I would hate to invest $300 in a new modem and not see any improvement on upload speeds...

While Tucson is one of the cities our network upgrades have occurred @azdeltawye, our local partners could be working to finish upgrades in all neighborhoods. Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can confirm if your address is eligible for the next generation speeds. To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it.

@azdeltawye for what it's worth I am the same zip (north of river between swan & craycroft) and bought a modem on the approved list (Hitron CODA56) last month and my upload is the exact same. I'm on the top tier gigabit extra plan at 1200/40mbps. It looks like it's incredibly location-specific where they're choosing to roll out mid split upgrades. But I'm guessing they will notify if you're eligible for higher speeds?

@user_yivku7 Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I'm north of River and west of pontatoc. I will hold off on getting the new modem until I hear from Comcast...

I found a related thread on the DSLReports forum that talks about mid-split upgrades and how to identify the new line amplifiers required for the change.

https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r33873075-New-Hardware-in-the-Neighborhood

I haven't seen any of these new Arris line amplifiers in the Tucson foothills area but did spot one yesterday downtown. However, that service territory is served by Cox, and they might be further along in the mid-split rollout...
