water in drop line at MoCA POE
I have had two techs come out in the last 6 months to fix a slow and spotty connection, that has progressed over the last two years (one of the main reasons I keep increasing the speed of my internet). The first one replaced a MoCA filter (that was extremely old) and helped to run a few inside lines and the internet connection was amazing until it rained. I continued to watch the connection drop over the next 3 months until it snowed and got cold, and the internet returned to full speed for about 24 hours and then it slowed all the way down until it hit 1 byte/sec...yep 1 b/s, it was kind of funny. The second tech came out and noticed that the MoCA filter was cracked and replaced it and said that the last tech might have overtightened it. This worked and the internet was back up to full speed until it started to rain. (being a prior nerd before I head to medical training) I now knew that something was happening at the MoCA filter. After the next rain and the system slowed to 24 mb/s, I opened the MoCA filter and noticed that water had collected on the inside (which is probably why the last one cracked when it got cold, not from overtightening). I blew the MoCA filter dry, wiped with towel and followed the cable lines in every direction looking for a crack, I could not find one, so I put some electrical tape around the MoCA filter ends thinking the connections were leaking. It has rained multiple times and every single time the MoCA filter fills with water and the internet slows.
Please tell me there is an ultimate solution to this issue since this is a bit time consuming.
Thank you.
