Using pre-existing underground, buried line from pole to house
My house (recently purchased, older home) is scheduled to get a line buried from pole to my house (over 300 ft). Another local service provider already has hardline coax buried on the property. I'm actually using their service now while I wait for Xfinity. My question - is there any reason Xfinity cannot use the line already there to attach to, it's looks like the same format cable, just unscrew the other service line at the pole and screw in theirs? This is a dedicated line it only services my house.

And just to further clarify, it's understood they cannot be used at the same time :), the suggestion is that the pole connection just be swapped and Xfinity use that connection to the hardline

Hello user_1fe24e, thank you for taking the time out to post here with this question. Unfortunately we cannot use the same underground cables the other company uses because the cables connect to their local plant in the area and not the Xfinity plant. We will run a cable from your home to the nearest access point for our plant, so the construction needed is required. Do you already have a service tech setup to bring your service?

Thank you for the quick reply, I think I understand what you're saying but just to confirm, I've added a couple pictures here that show the other company's connection. You can see that an RG coax style cable comes down from the pole and connects to the hardline cable that is buried, then with the second photo, it's coming out the other side at the house and connecting to RG there to run into the house. Are you saying in this configuration that Xfinity could not make use of the pre-existing buried hardline?
