Using outlook internationally

When traveling internationally I often receive a message saying my Outlook IMAP email Account Password is incorrect.  I work around this by accessing my comcast email directly through the comcast website, but I would like to use Outlook.  Is the hotel's VPN or my cellular (TMobile) VPN causing Outlook to block me.  It resolves by itself when I return to the US and I am able to once again use OUtlook..

Hello @user_ypixna, thank you for taking the time to leave a post.  I know how frustrating it can be to lose access to your Outlook email, especially while traveling internationally.  This is actually something we see happen fairly often when our email is accessed through third‑party apps like Outlook or Apple Mail while traveling outside the United States. Our security system is designed to protect your account, so when it notices multiple login attempts coming from unfamiliar international IP addresses, it may interpret them as a potential risk. That can lead to temporary blocks or repeated password prompts, even though your password is correct. I know how disruptive that can be, especially when you just want your email to work normally while you’re away. Have you tried a U.S.-Based VPN (If available)? Since the issue is often related to the foreign IP address, temporarily connecting through a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that routes your connection through a server in the United States can sometimes bypass the foreign IP security block.

- Connect to a U.S. server using your VPN.

- Try accessing your email again through the third-party apps. If it connects, your apps will sync and save the credentials, potentially allowing you to disconnect the VPN and continue using your email normally.

Let us know if this works.

Thank you.  My VPN allows me to use a USA server so that is what I will try to do next time.  I will not use the hotel's VPN wifi network because that is probably foreign-based and triggers the blockage.
