Upgrading Internet Speed or Package while in contract?

For almost a year now XFinity has offered gigabit at my address, but never once would allow us to uograde to it due to "having to be a business." Well a friend just moved in 5 houses down from me in our residential neighborhood, and he is having gigabit installed tomorrow. This is highly frustrating to me as it shows the option to upgrade to a gigabit+tv+voice package but fails when selecting the amount of TV boxes. I already feel like if I were to call that I wouldn't get anywhere. The gigabit package is identical to my current one, and the same price I'm already paying for only 300mbps. Any help is appreciated, I would love to finally make use of WiFi 6...
