Upgraded router stays hot

Got an upgrade router and the first one was super hot to the touch, was constantly disconnecting and had our house smelling like burning wires. Replaced it today with the same model and its starting to do the same thing. Already got to the touch. The router itself and the wall plug are hot. Is this a common problem and how can I fix/avoid it from continuing to happen? Can I go back to our previous model?

user_c6216e, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums. Are you using one of our modems, or do you have your own?
