current gigabit internet customer with a XB7 and would like to upgrade to XB8. i found a XB8 in a home after an past tenant moved out. can i use it or do i need a new one from Xfinity?

Hey there user_tm1zqe thanks so much for taking the time to reach out here via our Xfinity Forums! The former tenants equipment will need to be returned, unless the complex has pre-installed modems, then they stay with the unit. To upgrade to an XB8, please return your issued XB7. You can do this quick and easy at any Xfinity service center, and our Xfinity Store Locator is just the resource to help you do it!
