Update Router Scam
I just got a call from a person claiming to be from Comcast and that my router needs to updated to 5G. (5G is for cell phones which was weird) The caller was not from the US and claimed that he work at a Comcast call center in the Philippines. (That seems weird too.) The man then wanted me to download a free version of TeamViewer to get access to my computer and I hung up without downloading. I can give you phone numbers if you wish but the numbers were most likely spoofed.

Just got the identical scam from a guy with weak Indian accent. Very persistent even though I told him this sounded like a Scam... kept saying if I have a computer or laptop so he can send me a code to use for "manually" update the modem to 5G... Yeah right. At that point I told him there is no way I would let you access my system. He still would not give up, kept saying i would have problem using my router... I told him if I have any issue there are local Xfinity offices I can go to get help. He said OK then. Finally hang up. This guy was one of the smarter scammer as he never lost calm, and always sounded courteous. Can really fool some people. But since he has no idea about VoiP which the number he called was VoiP, obviously my modem was working fine in order for the VoiP work, immediately sent red flag up in my mind. Then when he asked about whether I have a laptop or computer to get a code from him ... That is a sure announcement of SCAM.
I am surprised to find out such scam has been going on since beginning of 2021! Why we have not heard any warning from Xfinity?!

Yep, just got the same call myself 10:10am 4/2/22. I put the caller on hold while I went to go "find" my router to answer the blinking lights question, then just left them on hold. xfinity needs to publicly answer about a data breach of account information.

I just received this same type of call from [Edited: "Personal Information"] and the Called ID said ANA [Edited: "Personal Information"]. We answered it because it was (allegedly from) a local source, and we were expecting a call. It was hard to understand everything the man was saying, but he was talking about a 5G upgrade that my router would not accept. The connection appeared to be bad, and since I could not maintain a discussion I hung up...probably before he got to the pitch to download software. Glad I hung up and Googled this.

I just received a call from [Edited: "Personal Information"] saying he was from xfinity and doing a survey on how happy I am with my plan and started off by saying I am doing a survey on what your plan is and how much internet service is covered to see if it would be cheaper for a different plan then the one your currently on. I hung up right away I didn't think xfinity calls you about surveys unless you hit a button at the end of phone call u placed to ask questions. I actually haven't called xfinity in about 3 months so I figures this is a scam
