Update equipment

We got a letter stating we had to update TV box.  Went to link, completed info, but upon submission, error message & told to reload. Does not work, no matter what device used. Xfinity "assistant" no help. Family members are going to revolt if we keep losing channels due to old equipment. Why is it so difficult to get 

help from Comcast?
