Hi there @user_622b9e! You would call the "Call Before You Dig" number.

Under federal law, the national "Call Before You Dig" number, 811, was created to help protect customers from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects.

Before-You-Dig

List of Yard Markers
The yard markers denote the type of line based on the color used:

How 811 Works

Getting lines marked is quick and easy with 811. When you dial 811:

  1. The call is forwarded to the One Call Center in your area for processing.
  2. Local One Call Center operators record the location of the dig and notify the affected utility companies.
  3. The utility companies then dispatch a professional locating crew to mark the approximate location of the lines within a few days.
    • Once lines are marked, they will know the approximate location of the lines and can dig safely.

Note: Customers must make sure to call 811 a few days in advance of the scheduled dig to allow for enough time for the request to be processed.
