Turning off public hotspot
I disabled the public hotspot on my router last Friday. I received the message that it can take 24 hours for the change to take effect (and I was patient over the weekend, even though it didn't say 24h in weekdays/business hours only). It's now early on Wednesday, the setting online says 'disabled', but xfinitywifi and XFINITY are still going strong.
How to actually shut this off?

Good evening, @user_087c06, and thank you for reaching out through our Community Forums for help with your Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspots connection!
We encourage you to keep your Home Hotspot enabled as it allows more people to enjoy the benefits of Xfinity WiFi, but you can always choose to disable it on your Wireless Gateway. Using the Xfinity app (available to download on Apple App Store or Google Play) or xFi site, navigate to Connect > See Network > Advanced Settings > Xfinity WiFi Hotspot Network and slide the toggle to enable/disable your Home Hotspot. Using My Account, navigate to Services > Internet to access the Xfinity WiFi Hotspot. Read more about turning the Home Hotspot off or on and for step-by-step instructions.
While your Home Hotspot may be disabled if you've completed the above steps, you may be seeing the XFINITY and xfinitywifi hotspots broadcast by neighbors in your area as well. All Xfinity modems are defaulted to broadcast this signal for the shared network.

We can definitely take a look from our end and see if it's been disabled on your modem. Just send over a Private Chat message with your first and last name and service address to get started!
To send us a Private Chat Message, select the message icon in the top right corner and then search for Xfinity support. With our new Xfinity support chat, you do not need to input the name of a person. Just select “Xfinity Support” and you will be able to speak with the next available specialist.
