Troubleshooting Scrambled TV Channels

My mother has been having issues with scrambled tv channels on her two tvs.  A repairman told her and my sister today that she had old TV boxes and needed internet to get more than one of them working.  She is 90 years old and doesn't even know what the internet is.  He also told them that Xfinity was going wireless soon, and she would have to have it then.  This sounds absurd to me to pay for something she would not use.  If the old boxes were traded in for new, wouldn't that correct the problem?

I would appreciate your input concerning this matter before we consider changing providers.  Thank you.

Hello there, I understand how it important it is to keep moms TV issues to a minimum. There is a chance that her TV boxes is outdated and will need to be replaced. As far as wireless boxes, at this time you do have a choice between wired and wireless boxes, so please do not worry. Is mom having a problem with all the boxes or just a couple?

The repairman could only get one of her 2 tvs working.  He said he could not get both working at the same time until she got new boxes with internet service.  I have just spoken to a Xfinity service rep who said she did not have to have internet and that her black box should be fine for just tv.  She put in a ticket to have someone contact me by tomorrow.   It is imperative that we get both her tvs working very soon.  She is 90 years old and spends her day watching tv.  It is basically her life, and it is causing her a lot of stress to not have something going on for almost a week fully resolved.

Thank you for your quick response.
