Transferring service.

Hi.  Currently, I have xfinity service in my home, and I have my own modem.  I am moving to an apartment.  The apartment has xfinity for internet.  Will my modem automatically work when I plug it in, or do I have to register something in my new location?  I have not moved yet nor have I spoken with the apartment staff about how they do it.  Maybe you have some questions for me that I can ask about with the staff.  Maybe that is not how apartments work.  Thank you.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

@thorslund I appreciate you reaching out to us with these great questions before you move to your new apartment complex. We’ll need to remove your modem from your current account in order for it to work at the new address, and this will be handled during the transfer‑of‑service process.

If our internet service is available at your new apartment complex, you may want to ask the property manager whether there is already a modem in the unit. If there is, and you prefer to use your own modem, the existing device will need to remain there. We’ll simply update your account details so we can activate your personal modem. Here’s an FAQ link to help you prepare for your move: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/move-services-faqs

I’ll be on standby in case you have any additional questions or concerns.
