Ting fire Sensor

I installed my Ting Fire Sensor tonight and it’s offline and not communicating.  They tell me that my ISP could be blocking it. Could you please help?

Welcome to our community forum, @user_19f0f7! Thanks for reaching out so we can help you with the new Ting Fire sensor :). Are any other devices having trouble connecting to your internet network? What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

@XfinityEmilyB No issues with any other devices in the house.  I unplugged my router, unplugged Ting, waited about 30 seconds then plugged back in…still showing offline. They tell me that my ISP is blocking it?

I did do some research, and I am showing that Ting can only connect to the 2.4 Ghz network. Do you know if your network bands are combined, or split? If they are combined, you will need to split them, and ensure Ting is connecting to the 2.4 Ghz network. :) Here are the steps to get those split.

Using Xfinity xFi
  1. Open the Xfinity app and sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
  2. Go to the Connect tab.
  3. Select your network.
  4. Select Advanced Settings.
  5. Select 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi.
  6. Select Edit next to the WiFi band you want to update.
  7. Select the new WiFi Mode and/or Channel setting.
  8. Apply the change

Let us know if this helped!
