Thousands of spam emails coming in by the minute

Hello- looking for help, yesterday afternoon we started to receive thousands of spam emails in our inbox.  I have checked and changed all junk e-mail settings with no success.  My wireless cell phone service was hacked and I was able to stop any fraud.  However, the spam emails keep pouring in.

Oh, no!
We're sorry to hear about your wireless phone being hacked! That can certainly be concerning with knowing how much information may be on ones phone and how we rely so much on our phones nowadays!
As for all the junk and spam emails, we're glad to know that you've already taken measures to adjust the settings!
To confirm, I've included a link below with some of the settings that you may have already checked!
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/spam-filters-and-email-blocking-new-experience
Were these similar to the ones adjusted already?

Thank you for the quick reply! Yes, I have confirmed all the junk e-mail settings as the article described. I have not set any rules- as there are thousands of rules and conditions I would have to create and this is just not possible to keep up with.

Proceed with caution! When scammers manage to hack into an online account, they sometimes "mailbomb" the account's recovery email addresses in the hope that the victim will be overwhelmed by the flood and won't see any "you changed your info" warning emails sent by the company managing the hacked account.

Yes!  Thank you!  This is EXACTLY what has happened.  But unfortunately for the hackers, I did catch the Verizon “you changed your info” email and contacted Verizon just in time.  The hackers had managed to add their phone number under the “two factor authentication” contact option.  It has taken hours for the spam to stop, but it seems to have, fingers crossed it stays this way.  This poses a question though- how did the hackers manage to get past the Comcast/xfinity spam filters and 3,000+ spam emails end up in our inbox?

Thank you all for responding, I was truly going out of my mind for hours!

I can definitely understand the mindset there. The best option to get any answers on the hacking progress would be to contact the security assurance team at https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/ or call them directly at 1-888-565-4329.
