@XfinityThomasA I just had what sounds like the exact same thing happen to me.  Can you help me? I was on the phone with someone who claimed to be with Xfinity.  He offered a huge discount on my bill but then told me I had to get a Target credit card or gift card.  I told him I didn't want that and no to process the application.  He then told me I would be charged a $140 fee to cancel.  I don't see any fee as yet, but I'm worried.  I can't get a human on the phone. I would appreciate any help or advice you would have.  Thank you. Karen

I've received calls before that say that my discount is about to expire and I usually delete them from my voice mail box on my cell phone.

As a rule of thumb, good , safe practices for your password are suggested. 2 Factor is a great one. You can find out more on how to secure your account here:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/two-step-verification-xfinity-app-setup

And also, Xfinity will NEVER send codes to you  unsolicited except through official means:

*You are in your account yourself and the website may need more authentication in which they will send a code

*You are working with someone from Xfinity through official means, either on the phone or through the forums. Always make sure that you follow their leads to message you and never message scammers

*Xfinity Chat reps which may need to access your account - only provide them the code in the official chat.

Otherwise, ignore the unsolicited requests and perhaps report them to your cell phone providers SPAM short code.

If you have gotten a call claiming to be from Comcast asking you to buy gift cards or paying upfront for six months or more in exchange for 50% off your bill the FTC is well aware of this scam.  If you get a call like this you can report it to:     https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
The FTC also has a great webpage on Scams.  Please check it out as well.
For Target Gift Cards:
Call 1 (800) 544-2943 and follow Target’s instructions.
Keep a copy of the Target gift card or your store receipt.
Please help to stop the spread of this kind of fraud.
Thanks!
