surprise 24 month contract

I was trying to cancel my Xfinity 500mbps internet plan and discovered how truly awful and horrible that experience is for any Xfinity user! There is simply no way for the customer to do this themselves, which is a thinly veiled way for them to trap you and your money. The agent I was forced to speak with then let me know that I had signed up for a 24-month contract and would be fined for the remaining months of my plan. This was my first time hearing and learning about this as I already knew I would only need this service for a year, and would not have agreed to a two-year contract if that had been made known to me.

I did my investigation of the website to see how and why this happened seemingly without my knowledge. Of course, the Xfinity website was practically unusable by logging me out every 5 seconds and hiding important information in fine print and behind innocuous tabs where I was able to find the term details. I just find this practice very extortionist and really in bad faith. I hope that Xfinity can adopt better, more transparent business practices instead of having to rely on tricking their users into hidden longer contracts with higher penalty fees to collect their money.

Based on my experience thus far I do not have much hope, but is there any method or way for Xfinity to deal with this problem? If this issue is not able to be resolved, I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and other avenues so that Xfinity can be held accountable.

The concern is not "Home Networking" help related. Topic moved here to the proper help section, and for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hey @user_6p8ejg,

Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. Before any account changes can take place, we always go through a customer approval process where you review the order and accept the changes before they can be applied. You can review your current agreements by visiting our 'Finding your legal agreements and contract in your account' support page.
