Storm ready still supported

I paid for a storm ready device off of XFINITY.com three years ago and now they are telling me I have to pay for xpro services and that is $15 a month I don’t understand it was advertised as no monthly fees to use the service of the device it was just purchasing the device you had to worry about. How can the agent get the right coding for the device to work for free as intended
