Storm Ready Device not working during regular outage

Currently have an outage in my area and it is saying my storm-Ready WiFi should be able to keep me connected. However, the device is showing offline. When trying to call customer support I'm advised that there is an outage and it disconnects.

@armyffray Thanks for adding to the community and letting us know. Having a connection when you need it most is vital, and we can help. Is it just a service interruption, or is there also a power interruption?

@armyffray On nice, that is good to hear. The extender should switch to the cellular connection automatically. Once it confirms there is no connection through the service, it will switch.

Try the following for us to help force it to switch. Open the Xfinity app and go to WiFi tab > View WiFi equipment > Storm Ready WiFi > Troubleshoot Device. The Xfinity app will troubleshoot your Storm Ready WiFi and provide a status for your WiFi signal, cellular signal and Battery Backup (sold separately).

The troubleshooting steps had me power cycle the Storm Ready WiFi Extender. This didn’t resolve the issue. The extender is still showing offline after 10 minutes.

@armyffray Oh wow, thanks for confirming. Okay what does the app say for cellular signal? Also, while you stand next to the Storm Ready WiFi, do you see a 4G signal on your phone, and how many bars do you have for signal?
