splitter

I recently purchased xfinity tv but my old DirecTV splitter doesn't appear to be compatible.  I need to output to 8 boxes.  Is there a recommended splitter for this?  Do I have to purchase my own splitter?  Or will xfinity provide one?

... I need to output to 8 boxes. ...

You need a zero-gain splitter/amp like https://www.amazon.com/CommScope-CSMF1APDU9VPI-HomeConnect-Amplifier-Spectrum/dp/B07TN963JJ. Apparently Comcast has forgotten that they once supplied them.

Hey there, just to make sure I understand, you are wanting an 8 way coaxial splitter? You would be better served getting the wireless boxes that do not need a coaxial instead. Would you rather go that route? We wouldn't be able to offer a splitter that large.

My xfinity store told me to go to Walmart and buy one so I did..  and it doesn't work.  My picture is choppy and I get a message that there is no internet connection.  I have since ordered a new, fancier one scheduled to arrive today.  If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have no choice but to go wireless.

Gotcha, if it is just split one way then they are fine but if you are splitting 8 devices then there can be issues. This is a coaxial splitter correct? Not electrical outlet?

Well coax splitters can adversely affect the video signal, causing excessive attenuation of the signal (signal loss) and multiple reflections which can cause ghosting (shadows on the picture). So when you have it going 8 ways your are only getting an 8th of the proper signal per device, which would definitely hinder your performance, both with the boxes and your internet.

I wonder why my local store told me to go to Walmart and buy one for $9?  Also, I'm having that issue with only one TV connected to the 8 way splitter and a 3 ft coax cable.  My modem is not connected to the splitter.
