Setting up Xfinity NOW router without the Ap on my desktop

Need to talk to someone

The Xfinity Assistant and FAQs are useless when trying to set-up a NOW internet router without a smartphone.  Can someone please help?  Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to Comcast! @user_vo3070, I am sorry to hear that you are having troubles setting up your Xfinity NOW Internet service. After doing some research, right now the only way to get support on this product is to chat with our chat team via the Xfinity assistant. Do you have a friend or family member that would have a smartphone that would let you borrow to do the setup?

I swapped out my old router for the new NOW router, plugged it in, waited for it to sync up then plugged in the computer.  My internet is working and a look at my Xfinity account shows that the NOW connection is the preferred one. Am I stil getting an internet connection because my old service is not yet turned off?  

Seems like I saw on one of the forums that someone can walk me through the set-up from the Xfinity end, without a smart phone and without using the [Edited: "Language"] Afinity Assistant feature.

I  am happy to check your old regular account for you and see if it is active. It shouldn't be active as it would have not let you set up the Xfinity NOW account.

Please send us a direct chat message with your full name and complete service address to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the chat icon located at the top right of this forums page.
Here's the detailed steps to direct message us: 
 • Click "Sign In" if necessary
 • Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)
 • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
 • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
 • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
 • Press Enter to send your message

I do not see a "Direct Message" icon in the upper right corner of the page.

Please pass along the suggested URL I should be using to sign in to Xfinity, so that I may get to the page with the DM icon
